Weiser’s Lady Wolverines varsity volleyball team fought back after a first set loss at Nampa Christian on Wednesday, Aug. 28, winning the next two sets and pushing the match to a full five before taking a 3-2 loss.
“We had a slow start to the night,” head coach Michelle Estes told the Signal American. “But, the girls stepped up their play and competed hard. It was a battle to the very end.”
The first set went Nampa-Christian’s way, 11-25. Coming back, the Wolverines won the next two, 26-24 and 27-25, taking the final two sets to close finishes, 22-25 and 14-16.
On the night, the Lady Wolverines posted the following individual stats: Evie Dolton, 8 kills, 9 digs; Paisley Noyer, 8 kills, 4 blocks, 6 aces; Lucy Hickey, 7 kills, 3 blocks; Adalyn Brush, 16 digs; Ellie Shirts, 11 digs, 6 aces; Madi Wilkins, 12 digs, 19 assists; and Presley Williams, 5 aces, and 10 assists.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Estes said. “After the initial set, they came out and played as a team, never backing down. As with most losses, the coaches and the team took the opportunity to learn and capitalize in areas to improve. That’s where we started in our next practice.”
Stay tuned for results from this week’s conference games, the first at home on Tuesday, Sept. 3, against Payette, and then away at Homedale on Thursday, Sept. 5.
