Wolverines qualify 13 for tennis state finals

 Playing through the 2024 District 3 tennis tournament, Weiser High School’s Wolverines earned third-place in team standings in both boys and girls divisions, as well as qualifying 13 to compete for titles in this week’s 3A State Tournament at Ridgevue High School in Nampa.
 Weiser’s boys accumulated a total of 52 points, with the Lady Wolverines adding up 37 to the total team scores.
 WHS junior Dauge McClellan brought home the District first-place medal in boys singles after entering the tournament in first seed. McClellan first defeated Parma’s Treyson Roche 6-2, 6-1; going on to defeat Fruitland’s Caden Seals 6-1, 6-3; and then, Fruitland’s Preston Rawlinson in the championship match 6-4, 6-3.
 Weiser’s girls doubles Halle Seward and Adalyn Brush brought home first-place hardware, as well, sweeping the division with wins over Parma’s Kali Ormsby and Claire Brassfield 6-1, 6-1; Fruitland’s Halle Rollinger and Makenna Rawlinson 6-4, 6-2; and defeating Fruitland’s Rainey Gross and Kayce Haun in the championship match 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
 Adding to Weiser’s team points and placing in the top qualifiers among their divisions are: Eli Woods who finished fourth in boys singles; Evelyn Rodriguez, fourth in girls singles; Kolin Cook and Diego Delgadillo, second in boys doubles; Luke Bake and Klete Cook, fifth in boys doubles; McKenna Manser and Hailey Rux, fifth in girls doubles; and Makenna Manser and Alex Woods, fifth in mixed doubles.
