Weiser throttles Vale 16-6, notches amazing 10-run inning

The Weiser High School baseball team extended its winning streak to five after handing Vale a 16-6 beating on March 26.
The win resulted in a 7-2 overall record before spring break last week. The Wolverines returned to action on Monday, April 1 at home versus Fruitland. Results of that game will appear in next week’s issue of the Signal American.
Vale
The Wolverines defeated the Vikings 16-6 thanks, in part, to 10 runs in the second inning. The score stood at 1-1 after the first inning. Then Moyne Ingram singled, scoring two runs. Weston Black followed with a single and a run scored. A Vale error in another run scored in the bottom of the second.
Harry Cook then singled, scoring a run, and Isai Herrera singled, scoring two runs. Runs were also scored on a passed ball and an error, and Brenett Marshall scored after tagging up.
Weiser added to its early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kaleb Grove doubled, with Vale committing an error. Ingram singled, each player scoring.
Jack Shirts earned the win for Weiser, surrendering five hits and six runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Black pitched one inning of shutout ball for Weiser in relief, surrendering one hit, striking out one, and walking zero.
Weiser recorded 12 hits in the game. Shirts, Weston, Ingram, and Cook each collected two hits apiece. Ingram and Herrera each drove in three runs and Finn Dolton stole two bases. As a team, the Wolverines stole five bases and turned one double play in the game.
