The Weiser High School cross country team recently went to Nyssa for a meet where both of the teams performed extremely well.
The cross country team has had a great season so far placing relatively high for every meet with the help of some solid runners.
This meet, hosted at Nyssa High School was no different. The course had the runners go through multiple farm fields and a little bit around the track over the course of 5,000 meters.
In total for the boys, there were 139 total runners with 12 of them from WHS. Weiser’s top five boy runners were Judah Parsons with a time of 17:59.69 placing fourth overall, Blake Quinton with a time of 18:10.29 placing sixth overall, Josh Kelley with a time of 18:42.59 placing 11th overall, Jorge Martinez with a time of 19:31.96 placing 21st overall, and Alex Woods with a time of 19:32.92.
The girls also performed quite well. In total, there were 94 athletes in the women’s race and Weiser had six runners. The top three runners for WHS for girls were Claire Matthews with a time of 20:51.43 placing first overall, Corianna Parsons with a time of 20:57.41 placing second overall, and Kenzie Strasser with a time of 26:32.32.
Overall the boys’ team placed first and the girls came in fourth. There is no denying that this was a great meet for WHS.
Overall the coach, Scott Hale, was very pleased with both teams’ performance and is excited to see how the rest of the season will turn out for these great runners.
The next meet will be held in Twin Falls and hopefully, just like this meet, Weiser’s runners can perform the best they can and make the people of Weiser proud to have these runners be Wolverines.
