Lady Wolverines working for a berth to State

 After taking a 3-0 loss to Fruitland in their final regular season match on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Weiser’s Lady Wolverine volleyball team entered 4A District 3 playoffs Saturday morning, Oct. 19, pitted against Homedale’s Lady Trojans.

 The Wolverines took the win in the district opener in three sets, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-12.

 Team stats include: Madi Wilkins, 27 digs, 7 kills, 1 ace, 13 assists; Ellie Shirts, 11 digs, 1 kill; Adalyn Brush, 8 digs, 1 ace; Kailee Lerew, 6 digs, 1 ace; Evie Dolton, 5 kills; Lucy Hickey, 3 kills;

Kamryn Doty, 2 kills; Paisley Noyer, 2 kills, 3 blocks; and Presley Williams, 4 aces, 10 assists.

 The victory put Weiser up against Fruitland in an afternoon match, where, coming into it with a record of 22-3, the Grizzlies put another notch in their belt, defeating the Wolverines in three, 16-25, 14-25, and 22-25.

 Team stats: Dolton, 3 digs, 8 kills, 1 block; Hickey, 4 digs, 9 kills, 2 blocks; Noyer, 3 digs, 5 kills, 3 blocks; Doty, 2 digs, 1 kill, 3 blocks; Wilkins, 19 digs, 3 kills, 15 assists; Williams, 3 digs, 1 ace, 8 assists; Shirts, 14 digs, serve receive 2.240, 1 ace, 3 assists; Lerew, 15 digs; and Brush, 6 digs, 2.250 serve receive, 1 ace.

 The District double elimination tournament continues this week, with the Wolverines defeating the Emmett Huskies in three sets Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Wolverines now go on to face the McCall Donnelly Lady Vandals at 6 p.m. in McCall on Thursday, Oct. 24. The winner of that game will earn third place in 4A District 3, and go into a State play-in match on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Mountain Home.
