Homecoming week found the Lady Wolverines volleyball teams playing just one match at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, defeating the Emmett Huskies in three sets, 25-13, 25-14, 25-15.
“This is the first time Weiser has played Emmett since we played them in a preseason match in 2016,” head coach Michelle Estes told the Signal American. “Weiser lost that one 2-3. (Now in 5A) Emmett has been granted a special request to drop down to the Snake River Valley 4A conference in volleyball.”
In the first two sets, the Wolverines moved into early, comfortable leads, with multiple players acing serve after serve. In the third, the Huskies put up a challenge, keeping the score neck and neck, until the Wolverines pulled ahead and didn’t look back.
“We weren’t sure what to expect out of Emmett,” Estes added. “The Wolverines did a good job of sticking to the game plan and playing a steady game ending the night with a 3-0 win.
“The girls did a good job of maintaining their focus and being game ready,” she concluded. “Homecoming is always a tough week to step up and play solid. We are proud of the effort and focus the girls showcased in the match against Emmett.  We continue to work on getting a little bit better each day and keeping our eyes on the task at hand.”
Lady Wolverine game stats: Paisley Noyer, 9 kills, 5 aces; Kamryn Doty, 7 kills; Ellie Shirts 11 digs; Madi Wilkins, 9 digs, 7 aces, and 19 assists; Presley Williams 7 aces, and 4 assists.
