Cross country runners improve on their best times

Recently the WHS cross country team competed in another race, this time over at Nampa Christian High School on Oct. 16.
 With the cross-country season almost over, the WHS cross-country team’s performance is becoming increasingly impressive.
 The race was the Winston Tilzey in Nampa, Idaho. The course featured tons of grass, asphalt, wood bark paths, and even a hill with parts of the course repeating via a few loops.
 Weiser’s Blake Quinton set a new personal record, placing first with a finish time of 15:54.0 in a field of 239 runners. Quinton’s finish led Weiser’s boys’ team to a third place overall finish with 112 points, behind Nampa Christian with 91 points, and Cole Valley, with 98.
 In the girls’ race, Weiser’s Claire Matthews finished third, setting another season record with a time of 19:20.6, among a total of 141 racers. Right behind Matthews was teammate Corianna Parsons in fourth, finishing with a new personal record of 19:40.0. 
 The Lady Wolverines finished eighth in team standings with a 189-point score.
 Other boys’ team members setting new records and finishing the race were: Judah Parsons, 14th, setting a personal record of 17:05.9; Josh Kelley, 28th, with a new season record of 17:39.0; Ammon Anderson, PR 17:58.7, 34th; Jorge Martinez, PR, 18:08.7, 39th; Max Lattin, PR, 19:05.8, 71st; Alex Woods, 19:09.1, 77th; Dustin Clark, PR, 20:24.4, 128th; Kenneth Babb, PR, 20:59.9, 149th; Sean Elliot, PR 22:06.7, 186th; and Elijah Hale, 33:05.7, 238th.
 All of Weiser’s girls’ team members set new personal records: Kelsey Cole, 24:59.6, 75th; Kenzie Strasser, 25:56.1, 85th; Kaylee Harris, 26:02.9, 87th; Tori Brown, 29:49.0, 122nd; and Mushtariy Erkinova, 35:42.5, 140th.
 Competing from the upper country, Tri-Valley’s boys’ team finished ninth overall out of the total 24 teams, with a team score of 261. In the girls’ race, Tri-Valley’s Lady Titans claimed fourth out of 14 in team standings, scoring 152.
 In the boys’ race, the Titans all finished with new records: Wyatt Stiff, SR, 16:31.6, 5th; Peyton Waters, PR, 17:34.0, 26th; Zach Stiff, PR, 18:25.1, 47th; Asher Harley, PR, 19:59.4, 111th; Haven Harley, SR, 20:05.8, 120th; Keith Farrens, SR, 23:37.4, 211th; and James Medina, PR, 26:25.3, 226th.
 Titans’ girls finishes were: Emma Barton, PR, 19:53.5, 7th; Adelyn Barton, SR, 21:09.4, 16th; Audry Winkles, SR 22:41.9, 34th; Morgan Tabert, PR 23:05.8, 44th; Emma Ford, PR, 25:38.6, 80th; Lexi Gay, 28:04.6, 113th; and Hailey Kindall, 35:19.2, 139th. 
 Weiser’s teams competed in the SRV District race at McCain Middle School on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with qualifiers moving on to state 4A competition on Nov. 2, at Eagle Island State Park. 
 The Titans season continued in the 2A/3A district championships, at West Park in Nampa on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with qualifiers to compete for state 2A/3A titles, also at Eagle Island State Park on Nov. 2
