Weiser River Trail wagon train makes 23rd trek

The weather turned a corner at the end of last week, just in time for the 23rd year of the Weiser River Trail Wagon Train event.
 Starting from the Weiser Trailhead, located at the original townsite of Weiser at the end of East Main Street on Friday, May 23, the first 12-mile leg of the trip was set to depart around noon, after a trip to Council and back to put shuttle rigs in place.

Horsin’ Around with the Angel Riders

 A free community event Horsin’Around with the Angel Riders will be held June 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fred Hust Arena in Weiser. There will be stick horse races, art table, farm animal petting, horseback rides, Weenie Dog herd, and more. Free lunch for cancer patients and survivors. Food concessions available for purchase. There will also be a cornhole tournament for $20 a team with the winners getting 50% of the pot. Sign up by June 5 at 208-414-9464 or weiseroffice.angelwings@gmail.com.

Idaho Bluegrass and Banjo Camp instructor’s concert

 The 2025 Idaho Bluegrass and Banjo Camp scheduled June 5-8 at Weiser’s historic Intermountain Institute will feature an instructor’s concert on Saturday,  June 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. to which the public is invited. Admission is a suggested donation. Come hear outstanding music, which includes the 2025 Band in Residence, Becky Buller Band.

Historic Preservation commissioners to meet June 4

 The City of Weiser and Washington County Historic Preservation Commissions will meet jointly on June 4, 4 p.m. in the courthouse basement meeting room.  The Weiser Architectural Preservation Committee Board meeting will follow at 5 p.m.  The public are welcomed to attend either.  Both can be viewed remotely via Zoom at the following link:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83137075515?pwd=bTR3UytFYWU4bk8rZDJwYkhPQ2ViQT...

Refugio “Cuco” Reyes, 82, of Weiser, Idaho, passed away, Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Weiser.  Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.

Evelyn L. Friday, lovingly known as “Lori” and affectionately called “Aunts” by her family, was born on June 11, 1934, and peacefully reunited with her loved ones on Nov. 30, 2024.
 She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Ted and Inez Friday, and her beloved sister, Marilyn “Friday” Johnson. 
 The Friday family played an active role in their local Nazarene church, where both Ted and Inez served as preachers.
