Judith Whaley, 84, of Payette, Idaho passed away March 15, 2025 in Payette. Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.

 Jay George Williams, Jim or Jimmy to most, was born Feb. 18, 1940 and passed away March 19, 2025 at the age of 85. He passed peacefully at his home with family.
 He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his children, Troy Williams, Lance (Dana) Williams and Nikii (Aaron) Barnett. Grandchildren: Katrina Williams, Austin, Michael and Tyrel Barnett, Jessica Wilson and Amelia and Reid Williams. Great-grandchildren: Bronson, Ruby and Lucy Landreth, Sage Barnett and Royce Barnett. Many nieces and nephews.

Kindergarten registration April 17 and 18

 Pioneer Elementary School will have their kindergarten registration on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Make an appointment by calling the school office at 208-414-3131. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2025 and the child must be present for screening. Parents please bring the child’s immunization record, birth certificate and proof of residency.

Weiser Fire District to have a push-in ceremony

 The Weiser Fire District will celebrate the arrival of their 2025 Rosenbauer engine with a push-in ceremony on Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m. at 167 W. Commercial St. Doors open at noon. Come in have cake, take a tour, and talk to the firefighters. The push-in ceremony is a time-honored tradition in the fire service. The ceremony dates back to the days of horse drawn equipment when members had to push the equipment into the bay.

Donations needed for Angel Wings Network Spring Auction

 Angel Wings Network’s spring auction fundraiser will be held from April 21 starting at 9 a.m. and will end on May 1 at 6 p.m. Donations of new items will be glady accepted by April 1. Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 773 W. Main St.

City employees’ teamwork helps to get projects done

Cathy and I are kind of strange. We don’t get television coverage and so when we want to watch sporting events, we usually eat out at a sports bar and enjoy whatever game we are interested in. 
 This last weekend revolved around college basketball with March Madness. I really don’t have any favorite teams except if a Mountain West team or a fairly local university like Gonzaga is playing. I just like watching good basketball. 

William Anton Kamerschen

Out in the rolling hills, in the big sky country of Idaho lived a loving father, brother, friend, and honorable man named William Anton Kamerschen. With peace and love in his heart, William passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025.
 William Anton Kamerschen was born at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. on June 18, 1952. Many knew William as Bill, Bud, or Billy. He was son to his late mother and father William and Marian Kamerschen.

Delores Jean (Klein) Overacker

 Delores Jean (Klein) Overacker, 87 of Weiser, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025 surrounded by her loving children.
 Delores was born Nov. 4, 1937, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of Harold Joseph Klein and Juletta Hilda Gohman.

Weiser students take in overview of wildland firefighting

 Weiser’s Indianhead Academy students spent a good part of Tuesday, Feb. 11, in an introduction to Wildland Fire Management class, presented by Treasure Valley Community College’s Wildland Fire Program Lead Max Maeda.
 Maeda not only instructs classes at TVCC, but outside of that still fights fire working out of Boise with the Great Basin Smokejumpers. 
 Maeda said he got into wildland firefighting right out of high school after spending the previous couple of summers working on camp crews at 16 and 17 years of age.
