The 20th annual Court Street Cruise will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Weiser City Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show and shine features many unique cars from around the valley and this year you get to vote for People’s Choice. The Knights of Columbus will offer breakfast and lunch menus, live music by Billy and the Barn Kats and a beer garden. There will be a “Drag the Gut” where the registered classics parade through town at the end of the cruise. Registration is $15 per vehicle. The Washington County Democrats will meet on Tuesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at the Weiser Senior and Community Center, 115 E. Main in Weiser.  In the past few meetings our speakers have been our local candidates running for office in 2019. The goal is to give all candidates equal time to introduce themselves, present their platforms and answer questions. This month we will hear from our third Weiser mayoral candidate, Randy Hibberd. We will also continue the reduce/reuse/recycled discussion focusing on our communities and our counties.

The 73rd annual Japan Nite Obon Festival will be held Saturday, July 20 at the Four Rivers Cultural Center in Ontario. Dinner will be served starting at 4 p.m. There will be bento boxes, shishkabobs, tempura box, udon and ala carte items. The evening will feature an open house with displays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Sangha Taiko will perform at 5 p.m., kimono demonstration at 6 p.m and the Obon Odori dance will start at 6:30 p.m.
