Weiser News - Press Release: Cornerstone Assembly Adds a Second Monthly Food Bank

PRESS RELEASE - June 25, 2020

Cornerstone Assembly Adds a Second Monthly Food Bank

Cornerstone Assembly is blessed to add the “Farmers to Families” Food Distribution as a second Mobile Food Bank, starting in July.  The Farmers to Families Program provides food for 320 households on Wednesday, July 8, starting @ 10:00 am.  This is federally funded through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program - and will continue until the funds are exhausted.

The Idaho Food Bank Mobile Distribution, for 320 households, will continue Wednesday, July 15, the third Wednesday of each month @ 10:00 am.  To receive this food, we collect your name; the number of family members in your household by age = 0-18, 19-59, and over 60; and the city where you reside.  This data is then returned to the agencies to help determine what to send the next month.

Farmers to Families distribution provides two food boxes @ 25 pounds each, containing a variety of fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, bagged salads, meat, milk, and cheese.  The Idaho Food Bank distribution routinely has frozen meats, canned good, dry goods, yogurt, cheese, and various produce.  Both are excellent!

The July distributions will be on July 8 and July 15 - both starting by 10:00 am.  We fill the parking lot from the corner of E Main St and E 5th St, and check each household in.  Recipients drive along the pallets where we place the foods into your vehicle.  Starting in August - these distributions will be held on the first and third Wednesdays @ 10:00 am. (Aug 5 & 19)

We encourage those who would like to volunteer with these events to check in @ 8:30 am, bringing your own face masks and gloves for safety.  We are excited to provide both distributions are for the benefit of our neighbors.  If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Mark Burgess at Cornerstone Assembly: (208) 549 -2103.
