John Benson Wilkins

 John Benson Wilkins, 64, of Weiser, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by the love of his family.

 John was born on Nov. 24, 1961, in San Bruno, Calif., to Jerald Benson Wilkins and Theola Marie (Wainscott) Wilkins. Following his parents’ divorce, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Donald Lou Wilkins.

 John proudly served his country in the United States Army. After completing basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, he served two years in Germany as a 64C Motor Transport Operator, maintaining and operating military vehicles while transporting equipment and military personnel.

 Following his military service, John returned to Weiser. Throughout the years he worked in a variety of skilled trades and positions, including Woodgrain, the City of Weiser, Champion Homes, Pepsi, and property management. He was a talented craftsman who could fix or build just about anything.

 John was the father of five children, each of whom held a special place in his life: Carie Lawrence (Jason), Kayla McFetridge (Travis), Steven Longfellow (Kaleena), Trisha Cruz (Manuel), and Colton John “CJ” Peters. He is also survived by his loving partner of many years, Nichole Gould; ten grandchildren, Aiden, Ashlyn, Brantlei, Adahlei, Madison, Kylie, Mckaylei, Olivia, Lylianna, and Santana; his sister, Gidget Wensel; half-sisters, Dani Wuthrich and LaNette Wilkins; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Theola Wilkins; stepfather, Donald Wilkins; father, Jerald Wilkins; brother, Allan Wilkins; and grandson, Anthony David.

 John found joy in fishing, camping, hunting, four-wheeling, boating, woodworking, and spending time outdoors. He was also passionate about music, loved playing guitar, writing songs, and collecting guitars. In later years, he poured his creativity into woodworking, crafting handmade cars, trains, decorative boxes, and other treasured keepsakes.

 Above all, John will be remembered for his good heart, his love of music, his hardworking spirit, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

 A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Thomason Funeral Home, 221 E. Court Street, Weiser, Idaho for family and friends.

 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Angel Wings Network.

 He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
