Maria Del Rosario Ixta (Chayo)

Our beloved Maria Del Rosario Ixta (Chayo) was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.  

 She was born to Maria Paz and Ramiro Ixta on May 12, 1967 in Michoacan, Mexico. Growing up she went to a Catholic School and Church called Our Lady Queen of Angels in Los Angeles, Calif. 

 She was a born leader and helped care for all of the other children in the family. She was always filled with mischief, and sometimes she was able to convince the other kids to do things she knew they shouldn’t.   

 Rosario was such a caring person with a giving heart and willingness to help anyone in need.  Her smile just lit up the room and her energy level was remarkable. 

 For many years she rode bikes and ran for miles and miles. Being outside in the mountains and camping was a family memory that she cherished. Working in the garden brought her joy, and she had an  amazing green thumb. She was an outstanding cook, and we all loved her amazing tortillas. Her kitchen was the center of the home, and her family was the center of her heart. 

 Whenever she had a spare moment, she would spend it praying. She shared her faith in so many ways with so many people. 

 As a friend, she was the most loving and accepting person you would meet. There was never a time that she did not respond to a need with hugs and open arms. Her ability to offer advice was very helpful to those around her. She was a second mother to many.

 Rosario was married to Andres on Oct. 5, 1985 and they had four sons. Hector Andres, Armando Miguel, Eduardo and Luis Enrique Ixta.  

 Andres played soccer on Sundays when the boys were young. Soon, it was the boys playing and Chayo became a soccer mom. She raised funds for the teams and drove all over the state for games and championships. Next the grandchildren followed in the family tradition, and she was right there with them.

 Rosario worked in agriculture as a lead manager and then went on to Idaho Migrant Head Start for a short period. During that period she gained her GED Certificate. That brought her to her final position in 1997 with the Weiser School District as a Migrant Liaison. As a liaison she connected families with resources and guidance for 29 years and touched countless students and families in our district and surrounding areas. She was a pillar of the community and was well respected throughout the state.

 The life of the party and the glue that held our family together, Rosario will be greatly missed by so many.

 She is survived by her husband Andres Ixta, her mother Maria Paz, her sons Armando Miguel (Mikey), Eduardo (Eddie) (Megan), and Luis Enrique (Ricky) (Stephanie) her siblings Jaime, Imelda, Armando, Lisette, Victor, Nancy, Cristina and Oscar and their significant others. Her beloved grandchildren are Gaizka Andres, Graciela Jean, Santiago, Molly Melissa, Daniel Gonzalo, Carlos Vincente, Saulo Damian, Eiza Belen. 

 She was preceded in death by her father Ramiro Ixta, and her son Hector Ixta 

 The Rosary will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19 at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 6 p.m. 

 Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
