JoAnn ‘JoJo’ Purcell Craig

JoAnn Craig, 75, of Payette, Idaho passed away on Jan. 14, 2026 at Payette Healthcare of Cascadia.

 Born in Weiser, Idaho to Clark and Mary Lou (Chrestesen) Purcell on Nov. 5, 1950, a brother, Vernon, soon joined the family, followed by sisters, Maggie and Patty.

 JoAnn had many fond memories growing up on the family ranch on Weiser River Road. As a young child she was involved in 4-H, taking sheep, sewing and cooking projects to the Washington County Fair in Cambridge, Idaho.

 She graduated from Weiser High School in May 1970. After high school she worked in the food service field, and then as an aide in nursing home care. 

 In June, 1973, she married Victor Craig and lived on the family ranch in Midvale, Idaho. To this union, they raised two children, Forrest and Danielle. They later divorced, but remained friends.

 JoAnn has two grandchildren, Sabrina Craig and Vince (Tamah) Craig, and two great-grandchildren, Baxton Craig and Tara Davis.

 JoAnn loved to sew, crochet, and do cross-stitch, which she did very well. As she got older she did puzzle books.

 JoAnn spent the last few years at Payette Healthcare of Cascadia where she met many wonderful people. JoAnn could start a conversation with anyone and would visit with you for hours. She made friends easily and tried to be kind to everyone. The staff gave her the nickname JoJo, and she loved it.

 JoAnn is survived by son Forrest Craig; daughter, Danielle Craig; granddaughter Sabrina Craig; grandson Vince Craig and wife, Tamah; great-grandson Baxton Craig; great-granddaughter Tara Davis; sisters, Maggie Rollins and Patty Young; uncle Frank (Bud) Chrestesen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Mary Lou Purcell; brother Vernon Purcell; and nephew Shad Purcell.

 The family extends its appreciation to cousin, Gina Gregerson and the staff at Payette Healthcare of Cascadia for the selfless kindness shown to JoAnn.

 Per JoAnn’s wishes, no services will be held. The family will have a memorial later this summer.
