Karen Marie Wyatt

Karen Marie Wyatt, 68, of Weiser, Idaho passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2025.

 Karen was born on Feb. 10, 1957 in Bakersfield, Calif. Her parents were Arthur Charles Honeycutt and Sarah Marie (Turnidge) Honeycutt. Karen was the second of six children and the oldest daughter.

 Karen attended McKinley, Stine and Harris elementary schools, Curran Junior High and Bakersfield High School.

 Karen married Lyle Wyatt on Jan. 18, 1980. They spent the next 45 years raising their two sons, traveling together, enjoying each other’s company, and loving each other.

 When the boys were young Karen was a stay-at-home mom, a vocation that she truly loved. Later she was employed at a variety of jobs. She worked as a sales person/engraver at Things Remembered, she was a secretary at an attorney’s office and she finished her working years as a nanny.

 Even though Karen was born in California, she always thought of Weiser as her ancestral homeland. Her family homesteaded here around the turn of the century, and multiple generations of her family were born in Weiser, including her mother.

 It was always Karen’s dream to live in Weiser, and that dream was realized in 2013 when Karen and Lyle moved here.

 After arriving in Weiser Karen made many friends and sought to be of service to her new home. She worked for three years as a volunteer tutor in Mrs. Nesbitt’s first grade class. Karen was an election worker for several years and she was a long-time member of the Shamrock club.

 Karen was an avid reader and had a passionate interest in Oregon Trail history. Over the years she read more than a hundred volumes on the subject. Living in Weiser provided her with a perfect base for Oregon Trail exploration. 

 Karen’s greatest joy was holding one of her great-grandbabies, but standing in the middle of a one hundred- and fifty-year-old wagon rut was a close second.

 Karen was preceded in death by her parents Chuck and Sally, and her beloved brother Timothy.

 Karen is survived by her husband Lyle; sons Phillip Wyatt (Elaine) and Andrew Wyatt; grandchildren Jourdenne Ballard (Alan); Taegan Wyatt (Raina) and Rylee Gann (Kane); great-grandchildren Blakely; Leighton; Beckham; Paisley and Rory.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser. The services will be followed by a lunch provided by the Shamrock Club at the Weiser Depot.
