Richard Lewis Gaboriault

Richard Lewis Gaboriault born Oct. 1, 1935 died peacefully in his home on Nov. 20, 2024 at the age of 89.  

 He is preceded by: his mother Effie Opal (Allen) Gaboriault; father, Leon George Gaboriault; sister, Ann Richardson; brothers, Leon and William Gaboriault; and grandson Kenneth (Kenny) Moore. 

 He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Self) Gaboriault; sons, Todd and Mark Gaboriault, Michael Carpenter; daughters, Christina Moore and Jennifer Kirkpatrick; and his sister Madaleon (Vonnie) Ayun. His beloved children have given him 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. 

 He was born in Tacoma, Wash. at Fort Lewis. He spent most of his childhood moving around Washington and Oregon. Then he joined the Army and served 2 years.

 Richard was a great father, who loved his children and made each and every one of them feel special. He was smart, gentle and kind and was always there to help if he could. 

 He spent most of his life following jobs in the logging industry. This allowed him to travel most of the northwestern states.  He could run any heavy equipment and work on it too. He could load a truck and drive it down the same road he helped to build. In the 1970s he lived in Alaska and worked on the pipeline.

 When he came home from Alaska he met who he called, “The love of his life” Kathleen Self and her three children. They spent many years traveling around northern California with the logging industry as he had done before. Then Alaska called them back for 17 years, where they were surrounded by their children and other family. 

 Richard and Kathy spent the last nine years of his life living happily in Weiser, Idaho.
