William Vernon McCommon Sr.

 Mr. William V. McCommon Sr., 86, passed away on Nov. 23, 2024, in Weiser, Idaho.  

 Mr. McCommon was born on Sunday, Jan. 30, 1938, in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. The only child of Joseph Bailey McCommon and Clara Mae Whitten McCommon.  

 He attended school in Paris, Texas before entering the Army in 1955, where he served three years in the Army and was discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey in 1958. He returned to Paris for a short time after his discharge and then moved to California, where he first took up logging and heavy equipment operating for about seven years. 

 During this time, he met and married Irene Dwade Martin on Friday, Nov. 13, 1959. They had four children, daughter Clarissa Jewell McCommon Parry (Mark), son, William Vernon McCommon Jr., daughter, Donnett McCommon Haegele (Michael) and son Thomas Levi McCommon, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

 He continued in the logging industry for several years and then went into the buildings trade until his injury in 1990 when he became disabled.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, his spouse Irene, son, Scott Orvil McCommon and by a number of family and friends.  

 He was a loving husband and father. He was very proud of his southern heritage and of being of Irish descent.William and his wife Irene spent many years doing genealogy and traveled extensively for a while doing research.  

 He was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved the mountains of Idaho and spent many years enjoying them.

 A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment to follow service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, Idaho.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Weiser Memorial Hospital, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington County Mobile Pantry in Weiser, Idaho.
