Weiser track hosts meet, comes out on top

The Weiser High School track teams hosted the Weiser Meet on Thursday, April 11 at the Payette track. Weiser athletes performed well, with both teams taking first place out of seven teams.
 In the men’s division, Weiser scored 166. Parma placed second with a score of 93. Fruitland placed third with a score of 87.5.  
 Weiser had several athletes place near the top for several events. Starting with the sprint distances: In the 100m, Toren Walker and Jayden Walker tied for second with a time of 11.41. In the 200m, Jayden Walker finished first with a time of 23.18. Jackson Laird placed second with a time of 23.65. 
 In the mid-distance races:  Garrett Walker placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 55.24. Gabriel McLaughlin placed sixth with a time of 56.9. In the 800m race, Judah Parsons placed first with a time of 2:06.92. Josh Kelley placed second with a time of 2:08.04. Blake Quinton placed sixth with a time of 2:17.67.
 For the long distance races, Judah Parsons placed first in the 1600 with a time of 4:52.21 and Josh Kelley placed second with a time of 4:54.73. Blake Quinton placed fourth with a time of 5:09.07. In the 3200, Blake Quinton placed second with a time of 10:50.17. Gage Walker placed third with a time of 11:35.26. Ammon Anderson placed fourth with a time of 11:41.36. 
 In the 110m hurdles, Zayn Crossley took fifth place with a time of 18.96. In the 300m hurdles, Josh Mizar took fifth with a time of 46.87.
 Weiser’s relay teams all competed extremely well. The 4x100m team: Jackson Laird, Jayden Walker, Brock Spencer, and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 43:78. The 4x200 team: Brock Spencer, Jackson Laird, Garrett Walker and Xander Gray placed first with a time of 1:34.02. The 4x400 team: Jayden Walker,  Garrett Walker, Jackson Laird, and Toren Walker placed first with a time of 3:35.41. The SMR relay team: Thayn Blanchard, Alex Juarez, Gabriel McLaughlin, and Jorge Martinez placed second with a time of 4:05.97. 
 Several athletes also did well in field events. In discus, Karsten Walker placed seventh with a throw of 113’11”. In high jump, Garrett Walker and Xander Gray tied for second with a height of 5’8”. Josh Mizar, Brock Spencer, and Shayd Crossley all jumped 5’06”. In the pole vault,  Ryan Youngberg cleared 10’. In the long jump, Xander Gray placed third with a distance of 19’7.75”. In the triple jump, Josh Mizar placed fourth with a jump of 37’2.25”. 
 In the womens’ competition, Weiser dominated with a team score of 192. Tri-Valley came in second with a score of 89. Fruitland came in third with a score of 82. 
 In the sprint distances: Madi Wilkins placed second in the 100 with a time of 13.41. In the 200m, Kailee Lerew placed second with a time of 26.38. 
 In the mid-distance races,  Kailee Lerew placed first in the 400m with a time of 59.48. Kamryn Doty placed fourth with a time of 1:06.15. Madi Jones placed fifth with a time of 1:07.48. Claire Matthews placed first in the 800 with a time of 2:33.1. Corianna Parsons placed second with a time of 2:38.73. 
 In the distance races, Claire Matthews also placed first in the 1600 with a time of 5:47.45. Corianna Parsons placed third with a time of 6:06.91. In the 3200, Kendall Rynearson placed first with a time of 12:39.26. 
 In the hurdles, Abi Wilkins placed fourth in the 100m with a time of 18.97. Wilkins then placed first in the 300m hurdles with a time of 51.32. Rylie Roberts placed third in the 300m hurdles with a tie of 53.93. Evie Dolton placed fourth with a time of 54.54
 Weiser’s relay teams performed well overall. The 4x100m relay team: Madi Wilkins, Abi Wilkins, Kamryn Doty, and Bethany Walker placed second with a time of 51.64. The 4x200 team: Madi Wilkins, Kamryn Doty, Abi Wilkins, and Kailee Lerew placed first with a time of 1:52.79. The 4x400 team Evie Dolton, Kendall Rynearson, Callee Foster, and Rylee Roberts also placed first with a time of 4:34.95. The SMR team  (Madi Wilkins, Bethany Walker, Madi Jones, and Kendall Rynearson) placed second with a time of 2:04.95. 
 Weiser also had athletes perform well in the field events. Teagan Hawker placed second in shot put with a distance of 30’10”. Paytyn Rollins placed fourth with a distance of 29’09”. Hailey Eames placed sixth with a distance of 28’08”.  In discus,  Teagan Hawker placed second with a throw of 94’03”. Hailey Eames placed sixth with a throw of 81’00”.  In the high jump, Kamryn Doty placed second with a height of 4’08”. In the pole vault, Corianna Parsons placed second with a height of 7’. In the long jump, EllyAnna Huggins placed fifth with a jump of 12’11”. In the triple jump, Bethany Walker placed second with a distance of 33’8.5”.
 In addition to the Weiser Meet, several runners had the opportunity to compete in the Boise Relays on Saturday, April 13 at Mountain View High School. This gave the athletes a chance to go up against some of the best competitors in the state from all school sizes.
 Jayden Walker competed in the 100m and finished 13th of 130 runners with a time of 11.39. Brock Spencer finished 28th with a time of 11.60. Jackson Laird finished 50th with a time of 11.80. Toren Walker finished sixth out of 41 in the 400m with a time of 50.42. Judah Parsons competed in the 3200 and finished 36th with a time of 10:52.03. Blake Quinton finished 13th in the 2k steeplechase with a time of 7:30.36. The 4x100 relay team (Jackson Laird, Jayden Walker, Brock Spencer, and Toren Walker) placed sixth of 22 teams with a time of 43.56. 
 Weiser had 2 athletes compete in the women’s competition. Kailee Lerew placed first out of 32 runners in the 400 with a time of 58.63. Lerew also placed 26th out of 95 in the 100 with a time of 13.39. Claire Matthews placed 11th out of 27 runners in the 3200  with a time of 12:11.22. 
 Weiser will compete twice this week, starting with an all district face off with the SRV only meet on Tuesday, April 16 in Payette, and the Middleton Invite on Friday, April 19 where they will compete against 19 other schools.
