The staff at the Weiser Signal American has been brainstorming on how to make our next holiday edition take on a whole new life. For many years it has featured holiday memories from residents and Weiser Middle School students. This year we thought about featuring stories on what you are thankful for and events that are planned between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We are asking for your help in making this the best holiday edition ever. If you have a public holiday event planned, please let us know. From Christmas carolling, hayrides, outdoor activities, music presentations and fund-raising to help those in need during the holiday season, we want to hear from you.
Speaking of holidays, there are many events planned for Thursday, Oct. 31. Start the evening out with a Safe Trick or Treating event sponsored by the Weiser Chamber of Commerce. Many businesses will be participating from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Then head on over to the Weiser Christian Church parking lot for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Treasure Valley trunk or treat. Participants will have their “trunks” decorated and will be handing out goodies to the cute princesses and scary ghosts.
With the construction work on East Commercial St. the businesses want to let you know that they will be open and are looking forward to seeing all the Halloween costumes. Check out the 22 businesses that make up E. Commercial Street. The wide sidewalks allow all to make their way to Station 30 on the north side and The Merc at Station 30 on the south side. During construction the businesses will be open and keeping regular business hours. Visit the vendors that are set up inside both stores.
Don’t forget about the much-anticipated event of the holiday season. The annual Art’s and Craft’s Show at the Vendome Events Center. Doors will open on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. For more information read the story on page 3.
Congratulations to the Weiser High School sports teams on a great season. The Wolverine football team has a bye this week due to their District 4A title. The volleyball team will be up north and the cross country team will compete at Eagle Island State Park to make their run at state titles.
Way to go Weiser High School’s Proud Sound marching band on taking second place overall at the District III Marching Festival held at Boise State University on the blue turf. The band also took best visual effect and best auxiliary colorguard.
The Scouts from Pack 350 and Troop 350 with the help of the youth members from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be participating in Scouting For Food on Nov. 9. All nonperishable food donated will be donated to WICAP and stay in Weiser to help residents in need.
Looking for delicious food then plan on attending the Shamrock Club’s roast beef dinner on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds help preserve the historic Jeffreys Schoolhouse.
Do you like a good murder mystery? Arrow-Heart Adventure Camps will present their annual fundraiser dinner on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Vendome Events Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The theme this year is “A Knight of Murder.”
