A few guidelines:

We strive to cover all the news and entertainment important to the people of Washington County, Idaho. Our entire staff takes part in the decision making process regarding copy that appears in our newspaper. Letters to the Editor are welcomed and encouraged. Authors, however, are responsible for the copy they write. The personal columns and letters in our newspaper represent the opinions of the authors who write them, and do not necessarily reflect the position of the newspaper.

Writers are required to disclose any personal or financial interests, and must also disclose public offices, commission, committee or board seats past or presently held. The Weiser Signal American's letters to the editor section is intended to allow the voice of the public, representing a wide range of perspectives on many current issues, to be heard in a constructive and respectful manner. Letters we deem to be unconstructive, abusive, offensive, or targeted will not be published. Letters we feel are intended to openly or subvertly serve as campaign advertisements rather than opinion pieces will be disqualified. Such letters, held to our standards and guidelines, can be published as advertisements at a cost of .54 cents per word.
