Respect for signs, respect for voters
Dear Editor:
We are in the election season. During this time there are a number of political signs displayed around the county. These signs are used to express support for the various candidates and ballot measures.
The signs should encourage conversation and discussion about the candidates and ballot measures. I respect the discussions and opinions of all the people who engage in the process. We may not agree on the candidates or the issues, but we must agree to
respect the individuals and the process.
With this respect in mind, I discovered the other day that a person or persons had entered my property and removed some of the signs I had placed there. If it is a prank, please return the signs. If you need signs for your property please ask and I will get you some. If it is neither of these, it is stealing. I feel that you have violated myself and my property. You entered onto my property without permission which I would consider to be trespassing. You removed an item that does not belong to you, and that is stealing. You have not contributed to the election process, but taken from it.
By removing the sign you did not remove the issue from the ballot, you violated the public trust. On May 19th you will have the opportunity to cast your ballot and make your vote count.
I encourage everyone to register to vote and cast your ballot on May 19th. Let your voice be heard.
