Reader supports commissioners P&Z decisions

Dear Editor:

 I for one am thrilled that Washington County Commissioners Nate Marvin and Gordon Wilkerson as well as True Pearce (our prosecuting attorney) have finally gotten control of Washington County’s run amok crony capitalists who for so long have maintained a stranglehold on our planning and zoning process.

 Our new prosecuting attorney was having none of the made up interpretations of what the county code actually says. This so alarmed the real estate professionals and property developers who used to run the P&Z Commission that they staged a vote of no confidence against Prosecutor Pearce. Thank goodness two of our three commissions voted to fire the whole sorry lot of them.

 Then there was the emergency measure brought forward by “concerned citizens” to freeze the issuance of building permits. You don’t have to be very smart to figure out this was an act of desperation by our up until then zoning masters. I hold Nate Marvin’s decision to change his vote to dump this travesty in the highest regard, because it takes guts to admit you have been bamboozled.

 Now we have endless complaints about this that and the other thing. There is an old expression which goes: “You know you are over the target when the flack is thickest.” Our commissioners and prosecuting attorney are over the target. Carry on, thank you, and have a merry Christmas!
