Meet the candidates Monday, Sept 29

While absentee ballots went out in the mail on Thursday, Sept. 25, to those who requested them for the upcoming Nov. 4 local elections, Weiser city and school district voters have a chance to hear from those seeking office.

 Scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, at the Vendome Events Center, the Meet the Candidates evening is sponsored by the Weiser Chamber of Commerce and the Weiser Signal American.

 Chamber board member Patrick Nauman will serve as the moderator during the forum.

 With no incumbents opting to seek reelection, six Weiser residents have entered the race for three open City Council seats. They will each give an up to two-minute opening statement prior to answering a number of prepared questions.

 Seeking positions on the Council are: Lisa Horzen, Stephen F. Fenske, Johnny Rhodes, Val A. Blevins, Joseph Vaughn, and John D. Shrolec.

 Also invited to participate in the forum are Weiser School District Zone 2 candidates, incumbent Jim Brush and Sam Lancaster. Toby Clary, is running unopposed in Zone 3.

 Be sure to take this opportunity to hear from and consider the candidates, the winners of whom will hold office for the next four years beginning in January.
