Margaret Francis Benson was born in Spokane, Wash. on March 14, 1944 to Francis and Bob Benson.
The Benson family moved to Colfax, Wash. in 1951 where Margaret and her three siblings spent their childhood growing up on the family farm.
Margaret graduated from Colfax High School (Wash.) in 1962 and went on to earn a nursing degree from Washington State University in 1966. Margaret worked as a clinical nurse her entire career.
Kenneth Eugene Goodman was born in Escondido, Calif. on May 7, 1945 to Marie and Harold Goodman.
Ken grew up in Southern California with his three siblings and graduated from Crawford High School (Calif.) in 1963.
He joined and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. After that, Ken worked in the trucking industry for much of his career. He also was a restaurant manager and a school bus driver. Ken loved working with kids and young adults most of all.
Ken and Margaret met in the spring of 1981 in Tualatin, Ore. After going on a first date at the Oregon State Fair that same year, they quickly formed an unbreakable bond that led to a lasting partnership. Sharing a deep spiritual connection, Ken and Margaret married in the summer of 1981 at their Tualatin church.
Margaret’s family immediately grew to include Ken’s three children, Brian, Kevin, and Julianne – kids she loved as if they were her own.
Ken and Margaret were a powerful force, walking with Jesus and talking with Him daily, until their passing within a few months of one another. They were married for 42 years.
In retirement, Ken and Margaret traveled the country with their dogs, anchoring and making new friendships in different locations along the way.
Starting out together in Tualatin, Ore., their journey also took them to Sherwood, Ore., Camas, Wash., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rio Rancho, New Mexico before their final stop in Weiser, Idaho.
In every one of their spaces, Ken and Margaret were not ones to shy away from partnering on various extensive do-it-yourself home improvement projects. They were simply each other’s true love.
Ken and Margaret Goodman are survived by their three kids, nine grand kids, nine great-grand kids, and their beloved dog Daisy.
