Letter: Parade grand marshal deserves an apology

We would first like to
thank the parade committee
for choosing our mother,
Lila Harper, as the 2019 National
Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest
parade grand marshal.
With that being said, it
would seem only right
that the citizens of Weiser
and its annual visitors be
able to see the person that
was chosen for this honor.
Lila’s family and friends
are highly disappointed that
she was put in an enclosed
vehicle for the parade and
could not be seen.
The thought of this seems
contradictory. Her family has
been told by many that they
felt there was a “mystery grand
marshal” for the parade this
year.
Her family feels she deserves
an apology and hopes
that this won’t happen to future
grand marshal recipients.
The honoree deserves
more than their name on a
car.
