LaVarr R. Elliott

LaVarr R. Elliott of Weiser, Idaho went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16.
LaVarr was born May 27, 1930 in Weiser to parents, William R. Elliott and Gertrude Barney Elliott. He was the oldest of three boys.
They lived in Utah and Washington as well as Idaho. He joined the Army in March of 1951 and was honorably discharged in March of 1953. He was a true Patriot and proudly served his country in the Korean War.
Upon his return to the states, he attended Business School and Heavy Equipment School. Shortly after that he met the love of his life, Irene Mabrey, in Kennewick, Wash. and were married on April 15, 1955. A beautiful union that lasted 69 years.
They raised three children,  Larry, Julie and Tod at their home in Weiser. They traveled and had many adventures over the years as a family. Weiser was always home base.
Early on LaVarr worked for Sam Emrich in his furniture store, he worked in the agricultural field for many years, Culligan Water,  and his final job was with The City of Weiser on the water department retiring after 13 years of service.
He was very active for many years in the VFW in Weiser. He was proud to be a Veteran.
Over the years he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved hunting at Wildhorse out of Council. He spent a lot of time hunting pheasants, quail, ducks, geese and snowshoe rabbits outside of Weiser. He was a great provider for his family.
Family and faith were of the utmost importance to him, when asked recently what his greatest accomplishment was in life, he never hesitated, he said raising kids that love the Lord.
He led by example with honesty and integrity. He never knew a stranger. He was loved and revered by those fortunate enough to know him. He regaled his family with the many adventures of his childhood,  some good, some funny, but definitely exciting.
