Lady Wolverines display determination through tough season

 As the 2025 regular season winds down, Weiser’s Lady Wolverines soccer team continues to show growth and resilience.

 With two away games on unfamiliar turf fields last week, the Wolverines revisited the Emmett Huskies on Tuesday, Sept. 30. In the last encounter at home against Emmett, the Wolverines had taken an 0-4 loss. This time, Weiser tightened their defense and held their ground, giving up just two goals in a hard fought 0-2 loss.

 The well-fought game is a testament to the team’s growth, discipline, and determination.

 In the match, Weiser’s Sophia Shirts (9) got off two shots on goal, senior Isabella Froshiesar (7) took two, and senior Via Magan (8) recorded one. Goalkeeper Evelyn Rodriguez made 16 saves in the day’s effort.

 With the skies opening up in a downpour of rain just in time for the start of the varsity match in Homedale on Thursday, Oct. 2, the rain soaked turf’s slick surface made ball control nearly impossible, with the Lady Trojans capitalizing on every slip. 

 The match ended in an 0-7 defeat for the Wolverines, a score that didn’t reflect the heart and hustle every Lady Wolverine put into every minute of play.

 The Wolverines have remained focused on improving their cohesiveness and team play throughout the season, and their fans have watched them grow in adaptability, perseverance and courage as the season has progressed. 

 Rodriguez put up 14 saves in the slick and unfamiliar conditions.

 Before heading into the District tournament scheduled to start on Saturday, Oct. 11, the Wolverines will be in Fruitland on Thursday, Oct. 9, to play their last regular season match. Good luck, Lady Wolverines!
