Kerrie (Coon, Helsley) McCarthy

 Kerrie McCarthy passed away on Nov. 19, 2025 at the age of 79.  She was born on March 5, 1946 in Arco, Idaho to Warren Hirst Coon and Becky (Jensen) Coon.

 Kerrie was raised for a short time in Arco before her family moved to Weiser, Idaho. Kerrie grew up in Weiser, graduating from Weiser High School in 1964. 

 On Feb. 8, 1965, Kerrie married Donald P. Helsley of Weiser, Idaho. They shared 31 years of marriage, three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 Don and Kerrie raised their family in Payette, Idaho. Kerrie worked at the Payette Primary School for 13 years.

 She later moved back to Weiser, where she met and married John McCarthy.  Previously of Paradise, Calif., now from Weiser, they married on May 30, 1997 for six years. John and Kerrie kept and enjoyed a close, loving relationship up until the end of her life.

 Some of Kerrie’s hobbies were horse back riding as a young girl, painting and embroidery work. Her greatest joys in life were the Lord Jesus, her family, and in her last years of life, her great friends at the Senior Center in Weiser.

 She is survived by two brothers, Dennis Coon,  (Adele Coon) and Tory Coon, (Mary Coon)  both of Weiser, Idaho.  Two children, Kimberly Dawn Schappert, (Shawn Schappert) of Fruitland, Idaho and Chad P. Helsley, (Michele Helsley)  of Nampa, Idaho. Brother-in-law, Gary Casner.

 She had seven grandchildren.  Ethan Schappert, Fruitland, Idaho, Goldie Johnson, Endicott, Wash., Brenden Gill, Surprise, Ariz., Cody Spang, Sandy, Utah, Hillary Whitfield, Nampa, Idaho, Jeremy Helsley, Nampa, Idaho, and Peyton Helsley of Nampa, Idaho.  Plus five great-grandchildren.

 She is preceded in death by her parents,  Warren and Becky Coon. Her sister, Nancy Casner, and her daughter, Kasey Spang.

 One of Kerrie’s favorite verses is the Priestly Blessing that God gave to Moses in Numbers 6:24-26

 “The Lord Bless You

 And keep you;

 The Lord make his face shine upon you

 And be gracious to you;

 The Lord turn his face toward you

 And give you peace.”

 Per Kerrie’s wishes there will be no service.  

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks, if you wish, to donate money to the Senior Center in Weiser, Idaho in her name, so her friends will continue to be blessed.
