Good things happening in Weiser, a season of support, celebration, and community pride

There are several great things happening around Weiser, and I want to take a few minutes to highlight some of them this week.

 On Sept. 25, at the Homecoming football game against Homedale, someone is going to drive away in a 2025 Ford Maverick! Tickets are $25 for one or $100 for five, and the drawing will be held live at halftime.

 Tickets can be purchased online at https://givebutter.com/weiserschools25, or in person at Smith Auto or Weiser High School.

 Ticket sales are currently down, so your chances might be pretty good! More importantly, this is a great fundraiser, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Weiser School District activities. I encourage everyone to consider buying a ticket and supporting our schools.

 I also want to put in a plug for our local businesses. Please support the local people who support Weiser. From the Fourth of July barbecue to the upcoming Mud Drags, fireworks, Little League sports, and many other community events, our local businesses are very generous in helping make these things possible. Supporting them is one way we can say thank you and keep those dollars working here in our community.

 I believe there are still a few tickets available for the first annual Weiser Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame Reception, which will be held Sept. 26 at the Vendome Events Center.  The Mud Drags are coming up again and will be held on the Laird property next to Mortimer’s Island, down by the Weiser River. The event is Oct. 3, with tickets available at the gate for $15 starting at noon. The proceeds are a fundraiser for the Weiser Chamber of Commerce, so come out, have some fun, and support another local organization.

 We have a lot of good things happening in Weiser. I appreciate all of the people, businesses, schools, and organizations that continue to work together to make our community a great place to live.
