Gary Edward Sinden
Gary Edward Sinden, was born Jan. 5, 1939, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Sept. 3, 2024 at Grace Assisted Living in Fruitland, Idaho.
Gary was born to Frank and Alta (Moulton) Sinden in Weiser, Idaho, where he resided most of his life.
Gary graduated from Weiser High School in 1957. He began serving in the Air Force in November that year. Gary was discharged with an honorable medical discharge June 28, 1962. Gary shared many stories of his Air Force times and travels to Waco, Tex., Germany, Morocco, and Africa.
Upon returning home from his military service, he began dating the love of his life Carol Anne Bott. The two were married in Winnemucca, Nev. where they eloped May 18, 1963.
Gary started his career working at Ryder Ford. The Ready Mix was his second career, where he drove cement and dump trucks for the Davies Boys. Gary went on to work for the City of Weiser in the water and wastewater treatment plants. Gary eventually took over operations of the city wastewater treatment plant, where he retired April 30, 2000 after 21 years of service.
He was most proud of this career and even talked his brother Wayman into being a wastewater treatment operator in Walla Walla, Wash.
Gary and Carol enjoyed a loving and adventurous marriage for 54 years. They welcomed their only daughter Brenda Kay Sinden on June 14, 1967. Gary had two grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Gomez. Gary’s family was the joy of his life and his greatest accomplishment.
He loved the outdoors and spent his favorite days Jeeping, hunting, camping, and fishing with friends and loved ones. During retirement, he and Carol had a blast traveling to Alaska, accompanied by their friends Ed and LaDinea Faler. During those travels Gary caught many salmon and halibut which he later shared over delicious meals with friends and family.
Another great pride of Gary’s was making his famous sausage, a skill he learned from his brother John Sinden. Gary (and Carol) helped John (and Maxine) make MANY pounds of sausage for the Washougal Masonic Lodge and Methodist Church fundraising events.
Gary had many hobbies in retirement, but his greatest joy was spending time with Carol, his daughter and grandchildren. He made it to all of Alex and Alyssa’s graduations and celebrated their weddings with them.
If you knew Gary, you knew of his infectious laugh. He always had a story to share, a positive attitude, and could fix (almost) anything. He brought joy and optimism to all those around.
Gary is predeceased by his wife Carol, parents Frank and Alta Sinden, his brothers John (Maxine) and Wayman (Eula) Sinden.
Gary is survived by his sister Erma (Don) McLean, his daughter Brenda (Jason) Davies, and his two grandchildren, Alex (Emily) Gomez and Alyssa (Marco) Delgadillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity, share a smile with someone who needs it, or just spread kindness. One of the things that Gary’s caregiver shared with the family is that Gary always had a positive attitude and looked forward to making each day a good one.
The family would like to thank the following people and organizations for helping him these past few months: Weiser Memorial Hospital, St. Luke’s Health System and MSTI Fruitland, Dr. Autumn Bridger, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Paul Gering, Grace Assisted Living, and Heart n Home Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser Oct. 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of life reception at Rolling Hills Golf Course noon at 3 pm.
Gary, you will forever be in our hearts. We miss you.
