Darla Adams

Darla Adams, 88, died at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise on Dec. 9, 2025. Services will be held Friday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m., at Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Darla Joy Dick was born in Republican City, Neb. on Oct. 1, 1937 to Bill and Fern Dick. She joined seven-year-old brother Garold and five-year-old brother Doyle. In 1944, the family moved to Weiser, where Bill would farm and operate a dairy on Cove Road. That same year, another brother, Danny, joined the family.
Darla’s first through eighth grade years were spent at Pleasant View, a small, country school east of town. Her high school education took place in the old Institute buildings where she was challenged to get from one class all the way across campus to band class without receiving a tardy. She fell for a trumpet player named Darwin. After graduating from WHS in 1955, Darla attended Link’s Business College.
Darla married Darwin Adams on Jan. 26, 1957, and they soon became a family of five with children Ken, Cheri, and Jeff.
Darla made sure that home was a welcoming place. Neighborhood kids played at the Adams’ place and many family gatherings took place at Darwin and Darla’s home. Darla encouraged and supported her kids in their various activities, taxiing them to lessons and attending their events. The Adams kids never doubted that they were loved.
Darla spent all of her working life as a secretary: first for the IRS and Mountain States Telephone in Boise, then Horner-West Insurance office in Weiser, and finally for the Weiser School District. Darla loved her work and colleagues, especially cherishing memories and friendships made during her years at WHS.
Darla retired from Weiser School District in 1999. Darwin continued to work as a realtor until 2017, but they found time to get away in their fifth wheel for camping trips with the Elks, friends, and family. Retirement years gave Darla time to enjoy her grandkids who filled her with delight.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Fern Dick, brothers Danny Dick, Doyle Dick, and Garold Dick, and grandson Austin Adams.
She is survived by her husband Darwin Adams, son Kenneth (Laurel) Adams, daughter Cheri (Steve) Clausen, and son Jeff (Jan) Adams, along with grandchildren Randi (Brad) Bartolome, Michael Adams, Jake Adams (Raymond Ortega), Elizabeth (Aaron) Schaffer, Olivia (Daniel) Feeser, Vanessa (Michael) Torres, and great-grandchildren Kenzo, Anthony, Jalen, Kiani, Kawika, Lahela, Casey, Levi, Keira, and Zoe.
The family wishes to thank Jennifer, whose compassionate care and delicious meals helped keep Darla safe and healthy and allowed her to stay in her home during her last few years.
Contributions to a favorite charity in Darla’s name are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
