Charles Herbert MeGee

 Charles “Chuck” H. MeGee, 93, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on Sept. 4, 2026, surrounded by his family.

 Born March 31, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Gertrude Clements, he was given the name Roland William Clements. He was later adopted by Herbert and Margaret MeGee and became Charles Herbert MeGee. Chuck spent part of his childhood in the Ozarks with his grandparents before attending De La Salle Catholic Military School in Kansas City, Missouri.

 Chuck proudly served his country as a U.S. Army medic during the Korean War. He often said with great pride that he never lost a man. During his service, he and his fellow soldiers also cared for 14 Korean orphans – an experience that remained an important part of his life story.

 Chuck married Mary Anne on July 4, 1953, in Spanaway, Wash. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Weiser, Idaho, a community Chuck dearly loved.

 Chuck retired from Oregon Portland Cement and later operated a Farmers Insurance Agency in Weiser. After retiring from Farmers, he worked security for Bigelow Tea and Boise Cascade before becoming a familiar and friendly face as a greeter at the Walmart on Ten Mile.

 Chuck cherished his Catholic faith, his fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous, and his involvement with the Elks and VFW. His faith, sobriety, and the friendships he formed through these communities were important parts of his life.

 Reuniting with members of his birth family – including a brother who had also been adopted – was among the most cherished experiences of his life.

 Chuck’s life was a testament to perseverance and the possibility of change. He showed that meaningful change can happen at any age and that a person’s past does not have to define the legacy they leave behind. His was a legacy of perseverance, faith, love, and hope.

 He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mary Anne MeGee; daughters Kathy Weil and Michelle MeGee Werner (Scott); grandchildren Sara Carr (Eric), Aaron MeGee (Emily), Amanda Matlock (Matthew), Joshua Weil, Katee MeGee, Emilee MeGee, and Mia Werner; and great-grandchildren Sophia and Sam Carr, Deagan, Sienna, and Ajay MeGee, and Desmund, Albreigh, and Avery Matlock.

 He is also survived by Mary Ann Artis, Dawna MeGee, and many cousins in Missouri, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

 Chuck was preceded in death by his birth mother, Gertrude Clements Johnson; adoptive mother, Margaret Haynes; father figure, Jay Graney; brother, John Pamer; sons Terry Michael and Timothy Charles MeGee; daughter Mary Ethel MeGee; and mother-in-law, Clara Ethel Burgess.

 A private family graveside service will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
