Caring for Weiser’s parks and green spaces
By:
Mayor Herb Haun
The City of Weiser is proud to offer a wide range of parks and green spaces for our community to enjoy. Our parks department maintains five primary parks and a total of 20 locations throughout the city, with valuable support from the city street department.
Memorial Park stands as the largest and one of the most well-loved parks in Weiser. Water for Memorial Park is supplied through the Galloway Ditch, with filtration systems in place to ensure weed- and debris-free irrigation for our sprinkler systems.
Our 13-acre soccer complex is another key recreational space, irrigated by water from the Mill Ditch, also carefully screened to maintain clean and efficient sprinkler operation. On the north side of the soccer complex, we also maintain a dog park and a fire training area.
Additional parks including Time Square, City Park, Heritage Park, and Lions Park are all watered using City of Weiser water from the main water plant, ensuring reliable and consistent maintenance.
Our team extends beyond the parks department. The city street department maintains areas such as Laird Property and Mortimer’s Island, as well as the State of Idaho property at the Oregon entrance to Weiser. These efforts help create a welcoming first impression for all who visit our community.
The parks department is led by Ron McDaniel, with Jacob Mallory serving full-time to oversee watering operations and sprinkler system maintenance.
Over the past two years, Eden Lawn Services has partnered with the city to mow our parks, and we have received many compliments on the quality of their work.
We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the many parks and green spaces that make Weiser such a special place to live and visit.
