Weiser heads to quarterfinal game against Homedale on Friday

The Wolverines handed the American Falls Beavers a 47-0 beating Saturday at home in their 4A State Playoff quarterfinal game at Roy Dickerson Memorial Field.

County and schools plan for winter weather

On an invitation from Washington County Road and Bridge Supervisor Jared Odoms, representatives from the county’s three school districts were at the Monday, Nov. 4, Washington County Commissioners meeting to discuss road plowing plans for the upcoming winter.
 Although the county’s policy sets snow levels at 6 inches before plows are called out, Odoms is authorized to use his own discretion to start sooner if snow conditions call for it. 

Run or walk in the 2024 Weiser Wrestling Turkey Trot

After a very successful first annual Weiser Wrestling Turkey Trot, put together in just over two weeks time before Thanksgiving 2023, plans for the second annual event are on the ground and running (pun intended).
 Taking the event’s organization in hand last year, Weiser’s Lori Sarich is delighted with how the 2024 Thanksgiving morning run/walk/relay is coming together.

Law enforcement, Elks educated kids on dangers of drugs

Weiser police Officer and Weiser School District SRO (school resource officer) Cody Samson, in partnership with Weiser Elks Lodge, recently visited area schools in an effort to educate students about the dangers of drugs. 
 At Pioneer School, Samson was accompanied by the Elks Lodge’s Elroy the Elk. Washington County Sheriff Kip Hicks visited schools in Midvale and Cambridge, where he is the SRO. 

2024 election successful for local, national Republicans

President-elect Donald Trump surfaced as the landslide winner of the 2024 Presidential Election over Democrat opponent and current Vice-President Kamala Harris.
 The 47th President of the United States secured his non-consecutive, second presidency with victories in the key swing states of Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, putting him over the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the election, the Washington Times reported early Nov. 6.
 He is the only U.S. president elected to non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland in 1893.

County tax bills to come in couple weeks

Washington County Treasurer Sabrina Young believes property taxpayers will be pleasantly surprised when they get their tax bills in the next couple of weeks.
 Reporting to the Washington County Commissioners during the Monday, Nov. 4, regular weekly meeting, Young said she had received 2024 certified tax levy rates from the Idaho State Tax Commission the previous Wednesday.

Retired teacher, coach makes blankets for Angel Wings

One of the secrets of life, according to Ralph Rowley, is staying busy.
 He is a retired teacher and a very successful long-time coach, mentoring kids and athletes over a career that spans more than 40 years.
 At 85, he is still contributing to his community, making blankets for Angel Wings Network in Weiser.
 To date, he has made an astounding 500 blankets, which are put into Angel Wings’ care bags for cancer patients.

Blood Drive December 4

 Weiser’s quarterly blood drive will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vendome. Please call or text Dorothy Evans at (208) 550-0990 for an appointment. Appointments are preferred but every attempt will be made to accommodate drop-ins. Rapid Pass is strongly encouraged. Your blood can save a life.
