Fit and Fall Proof classes

 Fit and Fall Proof classes have resumed and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Weiser Vendome Events Center. The classes feature mobility, stability, flexibility, and balance exercises geared for/not limited to adults 50 plus. Classes are free and equipment is provided. Winter Coat Drive and Coat Giveaway

 This year’s winter coat and hoodie giveaway will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 214 E. Liberty, Weiser. Donations of new or gently-used clean winter coats can be dropped off at the Love INC office, or starting in October, to the drop box located at the Weiser Library. Weiser River Animal Shelter and Rescue

 The monthly meeting of the Weiser River Animal Shelter and Rescue (WRAS&R) will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Bee Tree. The public is welcome.

Lerew captures first place at Australia track and field competition

Weiser High School senior Kailee Lerew earned first place in the 400m race at the 2024 Coast 2 Coast International Athletics track and field meet held in Gold Coast, Australia in July.  
She also placed first in the 4x100 and second in her mixed 4x400.  
 “It was definitely worth going,” she told the Signal American Sept. 5. “I met a lot of incredible athletes from the United States, a lot of really cool people, really nice people.”
