Is levy too much of a burden for taxpayers? A different perspective

Dear Editor
 Recently published in this publication was a view regarding the upcoming school bond to replace the current track and field at the high school. It is my opinion that the view had very little to do with financial concern for local citizens and much more to do with politics.

Show appreciation for the good acts people do to make life better

You may or may not have noticed that Cathy and I love history. To us, it is fascinating to discover the events and patterns that shaped the past to bring us to where we are today. 
 Last week, Cathy and I were in Texas to see the solar eclipse. While we were there, we visited the School Book Depository where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. 

Hillcrest Cemetery District commissioners to meet April 29

 The Hillcrest Cemetery Maintenance District will have their regular meeting on Monday, April 29, at 5 p.m. at the district office located at 215 E. Indianhead Road. The meeting is open to the public, and the meeting agenda will be posted at the cemetery district office. You are welcome to attend.

Sworn to secrecy presentation and exhibit

 Sworn to Secrecy, a presentation and exhibit on a little known WWII Battalion the 526th, with local Weiser ties, will be held April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Weiser Public Library, 628 E. 1st St.

LaVerne E. “Vern” Rathbun, Sr.

LaVerne E. “Vern” Rathbun, Sr. of Fruitland, Idaho, passed away on April 1, 2024, in Weiser.
 Vern was born on Aug. 13, 1928, in Havre, Mont., to Phillip William “Jim” Rathbun and Aleta Mae Sitkus Rathbun and grew up in Lewistown, Mont. 
 He shared many fond memories of summers spent working on his Uncle John and Aunt Betty’s farm.
