Williams places second at high school golf championship

 Senior Carter Williams captured second place at the 2023 State 3A Golf Tournament held in Blackfoot May 15-16.
 Williams, who graduated with the rest of the Weiser High School Class of 2023 on Sunday, shot a 74 in the first round a 73 in the second for a 147 total. Toby Heider of Kimberly earned first place, scoring a 73 and 71, for a 144 total. 
 Kimberly took home the team first-place trophy, with Homedale second and Snake River third. McCall-Donnelly was fourth.
 The WHS girls’ team placed fifth behind Bonners Ferry, first; Kimberly, second; Teton third, and McCall-Donnelly fourth. Snake River was sixth and Filer seventh.
 Lucy Hickey finished sixth in individual scoring, with 94 in the first round and an 88 in the second. Brady Reed shot a 116  and 111 for a 227 total to place 22nd. Hannah Grace was 24th, with a 122 and 115, and Samantha Kingsbury was 28th, with a 119 and 125.
