Welcome to all the visitors to Weiser this week and have an enjoyable time

Wow, it is finally Fiddle Week! The flags are up! The fiddles are on the lamp posts!  The vendors are in Memorial Park!  Campers are in Stickerville, the Institute, and behind Weiser High School! The contest has started! Hooray! For Fiddle Week!
To have Fiddle Week this year is especially sweet since we were unable to have any events last year.
There will be live music in Memorial Park from around noon to 10 p.m. through Saturday.  There will be a wide variety of great entertainers, so come and hang-out for a while to relax.
On Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be Kids Day Downtown on State Street. There will be a huge obstacle course, contests, a money machine, basketball hoops, and much more! The whole block of State Street between Main Street and Idaho will be blocked off for this event.  Bring the kids and have a great time!
Later in the day, from 4-10 p.m. E. Court Street will be blocked off for live music at Ruszoni’s for the much older kids. It will be a wonderful way to spend the evening with pizza, brew, and music!
All week there will be a breakfast at the Weiser Senior and Community Center from 8-11 a.m. The times I have been to the Senior Center in the past has been an enjoyable breakfast with good music for the whole family.
Cathy and I will be serving on Wednesday morning.  Come and support this major fundraiser for our venerable senior citizens!
Also, the Weiser Elks Lodge will be serving dinner from 5-8 p.m. each evening.  However, Thursday’s dinner will end at 6:30 p.m. for bingo. I don’t know what is on the menu, but knowing the Elks, I’ll bet it will be a great dinner.
And of course, there are plenty of vendors in the park for wonderful food and merchandise.
In addition to all of the above, the Weiser River Music Festival will be going Thursday through Saturday, with plenty of country music and entertainment! Come join the crowds and have a good time!
Last, but certainly not least, there will be a parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday! Invite your friends, especially those from out of town, and enjoy the festivities!
In City business this week, by the time you read this, the 9th Street project may be completed. Minor touch-ups are going on as of this writing.  The full completion will depend on the availability of concrete to make some adjustments to the sidewalk. It will be great to finally see the road construction signs coming down.
If you see or have seen some men running around town with what looks like a pot-pie on a 6-foot pole, they are from the water department taking GPS measurements of all of the water valves, meters, hydrants, etc. in town. These measurements will give us a digital map/record and details of each unit of all of the water department’s infrastructure inventory in town to allow any employee to easily locate any item in town from their phone or other device. Mapping the water system digitally is part of the City’s 5-year plan to upgrade the system.
Well, that’s it for this week. Hope you have a chance to enjoy some great fiddle music this week!
