Weiser Public Library to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Wednesday

I don’t know about you, but I am about ready for winter to be over. The bright sunny days we have had have been enticing. I am so ready for winter to be over I am even ready to get out and do yard work, paint the front step, and wash the windows. For those who know me, this is not normal.
A sure sign that spring is just around the corner, the sunrises and sunsets are lining up in a straight east and west direction. For those walkers and bikers in town, it is especially important to be aware of this. Since many of the city’s east and west running streets are lined up with the sunrise and sunsets, drivers may have an impaired ability to see you walking or riding on the side of the road. So, walkers and bikers please use caution. Watch out for drivers the way you would want drivers to look out for you. Drivers may not be able to see you as well as they would at other times of the day or year.
In City news, Timbra Long at the Weiser City Library tells me that there will be a Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss’s 118th birthday at the Library on Wednesday, March 2. Unfortunately, Dr. Seuss will be unable to attend.
In addition, Timbra would like you to know you can go to the Library’s website at cityofweiser.net/library/ and look at the March calendar for other upcoming events. One highlight that stands out is on March 26, the library will hold a showing of the recent Disney movie “Encanto.” Kids, please bring your parents for this fun family movie night!
For all of you softball and baseball players out there, the Recreation Department is registering players now for the 2022 season. The fees for co-ed t-ball and coach pitch players (ages 4-9) are $30 for Weiser residents and $35 for county. The fees for all U-11 through U-15 players, boys and girls, are $47 for Weiser residents and $52 for county residents.
Also, the last day to sign up for soccer is Wednesday, March 2. Late registration will cost an additional $10 if space is available.
If you have any questions, you can contact the Weiser Recreation Department at 208-414-0301, visit the website at www.cityofweiser.net/recreation or email to recreation@cityofweiser.com.
Well, that’s it for this week. Hang in there! Spring is just around the corner. Yard work here I come!
