Weiser now 3-0 with 50-14 win over Grangeville

The Weiser High School varsity football team recorded its third straight victory of the season on Friday with an impressive 50-14 win over Grangeville.
In the team’s first road game of the season, the Wolverines amassed 521 yards of total offense, with senior quarterback Andrew Enders going 10 for 11 through the air for 204 yards.
Weiser’s first score of the game came under three minutes into the first quarter on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Enders to senior Malakye Scott, who ended the game with 2 catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior kicker Ryndon Olsen made good on the extra point to make it 7-0, with 9:10 left in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs were forced to punt on their first possession, punter Ray Holes sending the ball deep into Weiser territory. In a near repeat of his amazing, game-winning feat from the previous week against La Grande, Malakye fielded the ball at the 5-yard line, returning the kick for 95 yards and a touchdown. Last week the feat resulted in a come-from-behind victory for the Wolverines with only 1:20 left to play in the game.
This week, it resulted in a 13-0 advantage for Weiser, with 5:21 left to play in the first quarter.
Scoring in the first quarter was capped off with an 80-yard touchdown run by junior running back Brock Spencer. Olsen’s point after was good, making the score 20-0 with just under two minutes left to play in the first quarter.
It was the Enders-Walker show in the second quarter, with senior Brayden Walker scoring on a 67-yard pass from Enders and again on a 25-yard pass. Both of Olsen’s point-after attempts were good. A 37-yard field goal by Olsen made it 37-0 with only five seconds left in the first half.
Weiser would score again in the third quarter on a 33-yard touchdown pass to Scott who ended the game with a total of three touchdowns.
Weiser coaches began substituting starters about that time.
The bulldogs finally got on the board on a 10-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion made it 43-8, with 4:37 left in the third quarter.
Weiser scored again on a 9-yard touchdown run by junior Colby Walker, Olsen’s successful point after pushing the lead to 50-8 only 7 seconds into the fourth quarter.
Grangeville would add another 10-yard touchdown run at 4:42 in the fourth. The two-point conversion failed, the game ending 50-14 Wolverines.
The Wolverines completed a total of 13 passes on 16 attempts for 232 yards. Cook went 3 for 3, for 28 yards. B. Walker led all receivers with 2 receptions for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. M. Scott had 2 receptions for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air.
Weiser ball carriers had 289 yards on 35 runs, B. Spencer leading the group with 3 rushes for 85 yards and 1 touchdown. Senior Maddox Stevens rushed 7 times for 70 yards, and Kaleb Grove had 6 carries for 41 yards.
