Weiser’s Dance Extreme 2.0 competes on national stage

Weiser’s Dance Extreme 2.0 recently competed at the America on Stage Nationals dance competition held at Lagoon on May 3-4. Three soloists and seven teams representing Dance Extreme 2.0 earned high marks from the judges with the soloists and four teams earning top honors.
 The teams qualified for nationals at the Boise competition in January and have continued to work on their routines as they competed in two other competitions including the Starlight competition held in Weiser in April.
 The first soloist Ashlan Ward, a senior at Weiser High School, placed first in three separate routines and received not only first place, but the honor of “High Gold” and All American an honor given to the top ten dancers for the entire event.
 Stephanie Becerra, a seventh-grader at Weiser Middle School, also took first place with her contemporary routine and Ebbe King, a junior at Weiser High  School, also earned a first place award for her lyrical dance.
 Four  of the Dance Extreme 2.0 teams earned first place with two teams earning trophies for top 10 overall.
 Cheer 1, instructed by Sydnee Reyes and consisted of Camie Blair, Brookelynn Blair, Becca Dodson, Paisley Messersmith, and Lena Heller earned first solace high gold and top 10 team trophy.
 Cheer 2 instructed by Weiser High School senior and cheerleader, Sydnee Reyes included team members Tina Dodson, Ahnala Meeds, Cambria Maldonado, Jazlyn Lavy, Kaori MacDonald, Samantha Messersmith, Brailey Bledsoe and Kynlee Sylvia, earned top 10 and received a High Gold overall award.
 Extreme Cheer with Caitlyn Lynch, Kayleigh Frazier, Krista Messick, Ashley Kielhorn and Aryssa Aburto  also earned a first place award.
 Extreme Project instructed by Alicia Cavazos received first place in three separate routines: Ashlan Ward, Stephanie Becerra, Emma Tolman, Kayli Sorensen, Ebbe King, Chloe McKenzie.
 The Jazz team (Kendal Nicholson, Annalisa Aburto, Isabella Froshiesar, and Lillian Wiles) instructed by Alicia Cavazos earned second place honors in routines.
 Team “Barbie Girl” a beginner jazz group, instructed by Candace Lynch: Adalyn Sorensen, Hayley Bardan, Anya Boles, Khloe Goff, Olivia Froshiesar, Lucia Ramirez; “Team Beautiful”  also instructed by Candace Lynch: Kaylee Harris, Stephanie Aldrich, Neva Lavy, and Madilyn Wiles and Beginner - Hip Hop instructed by Chadelle Huerta: Aliyah Swain, Lila Gray, Genesis Aburto, Claire Walker and Blakley Yraguen all earned second place honors.
 Cavazos said that all the teams put in extensive work and performed the best they had all season.
 “A huge shout out to our instructors Sydnee Reyes, Candace Lynch and Chandelle and Emilio Huerta who put in extra time to prepare our performers to be competition ready,” Cavazos said.
 The America on Stage Nationals competition is a massive event with over 100 dance studios in attendance and thousands of entries of routines.
 “It humbles me that we are from a very rural community in Idaho who attends this event who brings home overall trophies and high scoring awards. Thank you to all who support our program,” Cavazos said.
 Dance Extreme 2.0 will have its celebration recital May 24 in the Weiser High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come watch and celebrate the end to the successful season.
