Two more Wolverines sign to play soccer at TVCC

Weiser soccer standouts Alfonso Hernandez and Marcos Tarelo will remain teammates, the two on Friday, May 13 signing their respective letters of intent to play for Treasure Valley Community College.
A large crowd, including friends, family, school administrators, and classmates gathered at Weiser High School to witness the event.
“We’ve been able to do a few of these over the last couple weeks and it’s always exciting; it’s nice to see these guys go on to play some college soccer and continue their education,” said Weiser Athletic Director Tyler Grant. “Speaking from a fellow Chukar, it’s always nice to see. It’s been really fun getting to know you guys and seeing you play over the last few years. We are really proud of you, and it’ll be fun to watch you play next year. It’ll be a good excuse to go down and see a little Chukar soccer.”
Isaac Tarelo, a Weiser High School graduate, said he was excited to see his little brother move on to bigger and better things.
“I’m very proud of him,” he said. “It’s pretty cool to come back and see him sign.”
Marcos, a defender, was visibly excited himself, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and for the large crowd that gathered to cheer him on.
“Thank you guys for coming out; it’s very nice of you,” he said. “I’m very happy. It’s the next step in our soccer career and I’m thankful for it.”
Marcos said that for now, he plans on fulfilling general courses at TVCC and will decide on his course of study as he goes.
Alfonso, a midfielder, said he also plans to take general courses until he can decide what he would like to study.
Another teammate, Edgar Ayala, signed his own letter of intent to play at TVCC earlier in the month. The Wolverine boys’ soccer team reached the 3A District III tournament in McCall last season where they faced the McCall-Donnelly High School Vandals on Oct. 14, 2021.
The Wolverines were responsible for McCall’s only two loses of the season but fell 1-0 to the Vandals in a double-overtime, direct-kick shootout. McCall ultimately played for the 3A State Championship, losing 5-1 to Sugar-Salem.
Ayala, Hernandez, and Tarelo are not the only Wolverines to sign with TVCC this school year. Weiser High School softball standout, Mecarte Olsen, signed a letter of intent to play at the school on May 9. Teammate Whitney Cordes signed last November.
