While other counties are reporting additional cases of coronavirus, Washington County’s total remains at one, which is where it has been for nearly two weeks.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported the first case of coronavirus in Washington County on Thursday, April 2.
The confirmed case is a woman in her 70s who is recovering at home. The source of the transmission is under investigation.
State health officials said there is one case of coronavirus in Adams County and two cases in Valley County. Payette County has nine cases and one death related to the coronavirus.
As of Monday, there were 1,453 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state. There have been 135 hospitalizations due to the virus and 33 deaths.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare updates the confirmed coronavirus cases daily at 5 p.m. The IDHW is operating an Idaho COVID-19 hotline from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The number to call with questions is 1-888-330-3010.
The statewide stay-home order issued by the governor remains in effect until April 15. It was implemented on March 25 for three weeks or 21 days and directs all residents to self-isolate and stay and work from home as much as possible.
In a precautionary move to try to limit the spread of coronavirus, both the city of Weiser and Washington County have followed the gov.’s stay-home order and also closed city hall and the county courthouse to the public.
County commissioners on Monday said they will wait to hear what the governor decides to do before they make any changes to current policy or open up the courthouse to the public. No decision will be made before next Monday.
