The soup is on for ROSE Advocates ‘Souper Monday’

Each year ROSE Advocates hosts two fundraising events. One of those events is the annual soup bowl luncheon.
Although it will look a little different this year, ROSE Advocates wants the community to know that the soup is on.
The “Souper” Monday will take place Monday, March 1, with soup available through curbside pickup and in town delivery. Tickets are just $10 and must be purchased before March 1.
Tickets for the event are available at the local ROSE Advocates office, 27 West Commercial St. On March 1, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., you can pick up your soup order at the Weiser Community Church, 240 E. Main St. ROSE advocates is also offering in town delivery.
The soups for the event have all been donated and the choices will include: Taco soup, cheesy ham and potato soup, Judy’s creamy shrimp and rice and Zuppa Toscana, Tami Janicek’s tomato basil, Cook Shack’s smoked chicken noodle soup, Farmers Supply Co-op chicken noodle soup, Weiser Classic Candy’s chicken dumpling and Subway’s broccoli cheese.
Along with the variety of soups to choose from, each donation will also receive a hand thrown pottery bowl. These bowls are donated by Treasure Valley Community College pottery class and other local artisans including Nola Woods and Linda Drake. This year, you will pick out your bowl to take home with you when you purchase your ticket.
The fundraisers are not only a requirement for their federal grant agreements, they are the essential for providing funds for victim services that are not covered through grants, such as: needed medicines, emergency rent, utility payments, relocation funds and more.
Domestic violence is on the increase, especially in the last year. Loss of jobs, homelessness and other extreme stresses due to the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the need for ROSE Advocates services in our community. Many cases are more brutal than ever.
This is usually a large fundraising event in Weiser and ROSE Advocates hopes that people will continue to support it even though it looks a little different this year. With the cost of the event being so low, it is something that everyone can contribute to and when a lot of people chip in, a little goes a long way.
With the need in our community being higher than ever, the event is not only a fundraiser, but a reminder to the community that ROSE Advocates is still here working hard to continue to carry out their mission: To ensure that every person, through advocacy, support, and safety can be given the right to live in a peaceful family environment, free from abuse.
