Randy Earl Hartnett

Randy Earl Hartnett, 70, of Moultonboro, New Hampshire passed away peacefully in his home early on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years (and best friend of 50) Catherine, his son Bennett, his beloved dog Nina, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Randy was born on Dec. 2, 1951 in Weiser, Idaho. He attended Weiser High School (voted brainiest), but left Idaho to study at Harvard University, where he spent much time at the radio station, WHRB (where he met his wife).
Randy was a technology visionary, with several start-ups in the Cambridge area before moving to Northern Virginia, where he continued to work in the information technology field, and have new ideas.
With a big garage, he could pursue his woodworking passion, constructing a (mansion-like) treehouse, mahogany sailboat, and strip kayak.
After leaving Virginia for the colonial comfort of Concord, MA, Randy brought his entrepreneurial skills to bear once again, opening Dabblers Hobbies and Cafe.
With his wife’s changing jobs, Randy moved to Paris, where (despite not a word of the language of the baker or butcher) he dabbled in French cooking (duck with cherry sauce his favorite). Randy loved exploring the city with his dogs, Barney and later Nina.
After Paris, the country boy couldn’t leave the big city, moving to the Big Apple. Randy continued to walk the city with Nina and cook gourmet meals.  Finally, in New Hampshire full-time, Randy focused on woodworking, sunset photography, and kayaking on the lake with Nina.
Randy was looking forward to returning to city life, planning a move to London.
His friends and work colleagues remember Randy for his sharp wit, taking chances, and political passion; as well as his mentoring, generosity, and kindness.
Celebrations of life are being planned.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a food pantry or homeless organization, student theater or technology group, a socially-conscious political organization, or cocker-spaniel rescue.
