New real estate office opens in Weiser

Realtors Kim Hamilton and Donna Sherbondy have opened a sales office in Weiser to assist both buyers and sellers with all of their real estate needs.
Both are associated with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Silverhawk Realty, a dynamic real estate brand locally and across the country. The company is consistently ranked in the top 15 for the entire Intermountain MLS (of more than 400 real estate offices) and in the top five in Canyon, Payette, Washington and Malheur counties.
The Weiser office officially opened with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday hosted by officials with the Weiser Area Chamber of Commerce and invited guests, including other real estate agents from BHHS offices in the Treasure Valley.
After a career in public education, Hamilton, who holds a master’s degree in education, began working in real estate with Silverhawk Realty in 2016. In 2018, Silverhawk joined forces with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices – the largest BHHS franchise in Idaho with five offices located in Meridian, Caldwell, Parma, Fruitland and Ontario.
Sherbondy also started in real estate with Silverhawk Realty in 2016 after a long career in law enforcement. She earned the rank of lieutenant and worked at the Snake River Correctional Instititution near Ontario, Ore., for more than 20 years.
Both Hamilton and Sherbondy said the marketing reach, wealth of data and other real estate resources available through their affiliation with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is a tremendous asset for both sellers and buyers.
A real estate agent can do a lot for clients looking to buy or sell, especially when it comes to looking out for a client’s interests. They take the stress out of the process. They know the new rules and regulations in the real estate market.
For buyers, Hamilton and Sherbondy are the local go-to experts on the real estate market in Weiser. They stay up to date on what local homes are selling for and the home-buying trends. Buyers can tap into a wealth of property data, including sale price history, neighborhood information and real world context.
“They have already have those tools in place for us,” Hamilton said.
For sellers, it’s a seamless process to list, advertise and sell a home, especially in today’s strong real estate market in the Treasure Valley. There is targeted marketing that can give potential home buyers anywhere in the country information about Weiser or Treasure Valley properties. They will provide expert negotiations with prospective buyers.
Hamilton and Sherbondy have current data at their fingertips to assist with accurate pricing for a seller listing a home. Getting it right is crucial for a couple of important reasons. Too low and it sells quickly but for less than the buyer could have received. If it’s priced too high it can sit on the market.
“I think agents are important to make sure everything is OK,” Hamilton said. “We work to make sure a home is priced right, not overpriced or underpriced. We work with a lot of data to make sure it’s right.”
While the Weiser real estate market is the primary focus for the local office, Hamilton and Sherbondy have access to property listings across the Treasure Valley and work with many agents at the other BHHS affiliated offices.
There is a demand for homes in Weiser and currently not enough inventory of properties to meet that demand. As of last week the entire Weiser market had 14 homes listed for sale. Prices for single-family homes jumped in the fall but have since stabilized.
Hamilton said it’s a great time for homeowners who want to move up to more square footage or get into their dream home to list their home.
Local home prices have gone up but not through the roof. There are still good values to be found, and a real estate with contacts can do the legwork for today’s busy buyer. They are willing to work around a prospective buyer’s busy schedule to show a home.
Both Hamilton and Sherbondy see the Weiser real estate market growing in the future as more people move to the Treasure Valley. Currently, it’s a good market for people looking to move here, for investors and for sellers.
“It’s a good market all the way around,” Hamilton said.
