Mary was born Jan. 26, 1951, in Weiser, Idaho to David and Bessie Adams.
Mary grew up and went to school in Weiser. In her younger years Mary tried her hand at waitressing at Mae’s Shack in Weiser, it didn’t take her long to figure out that waitressing wasn’t her thing. She worked at the nursing home in Weiser for a few years and worked for her Grandpa Gerald Johns on the Keithley Creek farm in Midvale, milking cows and putting up hay. Mary worked at Champion Homes for 17 years, she worked in many different departments and made several lifelong friends while there.
In 1994 Mary married Daniel Hufferd, they moved to Oklahoma but soon found their way back to Idaho. They bought property in Midvale where they built a home and raised their two youngest children, Darrcy and David.
Her husband’s job required lots of traveling. Mary really enjoyed all the traveling they did together and all the adventures that went along with that. Mary said, “I never knew where we would be next, it was exciting and exhausting all at the same time, but I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s definitely made things interesting!”
Mary was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren going to ball games, 4-H, rodeo’s, fair, and helping them with fundraisers.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, puzzles, Yahtzee, meeting her friends at the local cafe for coffee, BSU Bowl Games with her grandson, Ryan and her annual trips to Jackpot with her daughters.
She loved taking care of animals and she especially loved her little dog, Sadie.
Mary was known for her fried chicken, potato salad and pies if there was a fundraiser or a family dinner you were sure to enjoy her food. She provided pies and salads for Midvale’s 4th of July Celebration for many years.
Mary helped her daughter, Angel at the Country Coffee Cabin for 10 years, she was an amazing prep cook and the customers raved about her homemade pies and noodles.
In the fall of 2016 Mary was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, she bravely went through several radiation and chemotherapy treatments with her husband by her side. Her loving husband was an excellent caregiver up until his unexpected death in 2019.
In 2020 cancer reared its ugly head again, she fought a long hard battle, but was able to do a few bucket list items. She went salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska, went to the Oregon and California Coast to see the Redwoods and she made one last trip to Reno for a little gambling.
Mary was a loving, caring and generous person. She had a heart of gold and will be missed dearly.
At Mary’s request there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the volunteer Midvale Fire and Ambulance District, P.O. Box 43, Midvale, Idaho 83645.
