Lady Wolverines shut out McCall-Donnelly 19-0

Three Weiser varsity softball pitchers collaborated in a 19-0 shutout victory over McCall-Donnelly on Monday, April 18.
Whitney Cordes threw the bottom half of the first inning, striking out two, and allowing zero hits, zero runs, and zero walks. Paisley Noyer pitched the second inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, and striking out one. Annabelle Mattson took the mound for the final three, striking out two, and allowing zero runs on two hits.
The Wolverines had the first of two big scoring innings in the first, racking up six runs in the top half. First at bat, Ivy Morris was walked, then stole second on the first pitch to Cordes. Stealing third base after the third throw, Morris scored Weiser’s first run on an error at third. Cordes was walked, with Rylee Roberts subbing in as her courtesy runner.
Tobie Noyer singled, advancing Roberts to second. P. Noyer followed with a double, scoring Roberts and setting up Tobie at third. Mecarte Olsen was thrown a ball on the first pitch, and on the catcher’s throw back Tobie stole home for a score, with Paisley stealing third at the same time. Olsen then doubled on a line drive to center, scoring Paisley and putting the Wolverines up 4-0 with no outs.
Abi Wilkins went to first on an error, advancing Olsen to third. Mattson was up to bat, when Olsen stole home, and Wilkins stole third. After the first pitch, Wilkins stole home, moving Weiser into a 6-0 lead.
It was three up, three down in the bottom half, and both teams held each other scoreless in the second and third innings.
Weiser put 13 runs on the board in the fourth inning. Cordes scored Morris, and T. Noyer scored Cordes before the first out, moving Weiser’s lead to 8-0. Wilkins doubled on a fly ball, scoring Olsen, and then a strikeout gave the Wolverines a second out.
A hit by the pitch put Hannah Swank at first. Some quick base stealing sent Wilkins home, and Swank to third. Taylor Bushong singled on a line drive, scoring Swank. With Bushong and Morris on bases, Cordes scored Bushong on a line drive to right field. T. Noyer doubled on a line drive to center, scoring both Morris and Cordes. P. Noyer hit a ground ball and reached first on an error by shortstop, scoring T. Noyer.
 P. Noyer stole second, then Olsen scored her on a line drive to right field. Olsen advanced to second on the throw. Olsen advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored when Wilkins hit a hard ground ball, reaching first on an error. Wilkins advanced to second on a passed ball, and then to third on a wild pitch. Both Mattson and Grace Swank walked, and Wilkins scored on a passed ball on the first pitch to Bushong, giving Weiser the 19-0 lead, and before Bushong bunted out to the first baseman.
A pair of Vandals got on base in the top of the fifth before three outs in a row ended the half. Then, the Wolverines went three up, three down in the bottom to end the game and get the win.
