Lady Wolverines finish second at NP meet

Congratulations to the women’s track team as they finished second overall on Friday against 15 other teams. 
 Weiser had strong performances from Kailee Lerew who placed first in the  400 meters, Kylee Quinton, second in the 800 meters, Shae Kunz, Kamryn Doty, Kate Davies and Lerew, placed second in the 4x200 meter relay, the 4x400 meter relay placed first with Lerew, Quinton, Davies and Mattie Shirts, sprint medley placed second with Emily Christopherson, Kunz, Davies and Quinton, Kunz was first in the pole vault and Shirts placed first in the triple jump. 
 The men’s team members Colton Foster, Michael Youngberg, Ryndon Olsen and Toren Walker, 4x400 meter relay placed second and Tristan McMahill placed third in the shot put.
 New Plymouth High School hosted the 16 teams for their Pilgrim Invitational track meet on May 6. The Wolverine women had a good showing that put them in second place overall with 81 points. The men had a rougher day, ending in 11th with 21 team points.
 Nampa Christian placed first for the men’s teams with a score of 111 points followed by Fruitland in second with 104 points and Buhl came in third at 102 points. For the women’s teams, Fruitland came in first place with 121 team points, and Cole Valley Christian School was third with 79.5 points.
 In the 200 meters, Colton Foster came in ninth with 24.14 seconds. Josh Kelley took eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.80. Kelley also came in seventh in the 1600 meters at 5:13.23.
 In the 4x100 relay the Weiser men’s team of Ben Briggs, Alex Magana, Riggin Roberts and Colyer Chandler finished with a time of 49.91 seconds putting them in eighth place. Weiser came in seventh for the 4x200 with a time of 1:39.93. Running for the Wolverines was Colton Foster, Michael Youngberg, Ryndon Olsen and Toren Walker.
 Foster, Youngberg, Olsen and Walker also took second place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:42.68. 
 Weiser was tenth in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:29.56. Ben Briggs, Alex Magana, Ryan Youngberg and Judah Parsons ran the relay for Weiser.
 For shot put Tristan McMahill came in third with a throw of 43 feet 3 inches. Daniel Rodriguez placed eighth for discus with a distance of 107 feet 9 inches. Wolverine, Toren Walker placed ninth in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet 4 inches.
 For pole vault, Ryan Ellingson came in eighth at 9 feet 6 inches. 
 For Weiser’s varsity women, Kailee Lerew took first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.78 and Callee Foster came in eighth with 1:08.12.
 Kylee Quinton came in second for the 800 meters. Her time was 2:21.92. Roma Walker was in tenth with 2:51.99. In the 1600, Walker came in seventh with a time of 6:26.27. 
 For the 3200 meters, senior Kiearra Hoobery came in fifth with 15:59.94. Quinton took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 52.29.
 Weiser took seventh place in the 4x100 relay with the team of Emily Christopherson, Shayla Kelley, Ashlyn Walker, and Sarah Henderson. Their time was 55.23 seconds. 
 A time of 1:53.66 gave the Wolverines second place in the 4x200 relay. Running for Weiser was Shae Kunz, Kamryn Doty, Kate Davies and Kailee Lerew. A second Weiser team with members Sarah Sotelo, Isabel Odette, Pearl Kaewta and Melanie Chavez finished in eighth with a time of 2:06.09.
 In the 4x400 Lerew, Quinton, Davies and Mattie Shirts ended in first place with a time of 4:16.88.
 Weiser varsity girls were second in the sprint medley relay.  Christopherson, Kunz, Davies and Quinton ran the race in 1:57.37.
 Matlin Wolery came in sixth for discus with a distance of 87 feet 4.5 inches. Kunz came in first for pole vault at 8 feet. 
 Shirts took first in the triple jump to finish out the scoring for Weiser. She had a jump of 34 feet 9 inches.
 The Wolverines next meet will be May 12 and 13 at their home track as they host the district finals.
