Jacqueline June Sumner

Jacqueline June Sumner, 89, passed away June 26, 2019 in Weiser.
Her beautiful and strong spirit had battled serious illness the last couple months. Jacque will be truly missed by all her friends and family.
Jacqueline was born June 15, 1930 to Joseph and Myrtle (Kuntz) Stroner.
She graduated from Weiser High School in 1948, then went into a nursing career, graduating from St. Lukes Nurses Training in Boise in 1951. She moved to Portland to start her nursing career that would last for 31 years.
In 1960 Jacque moved back to Weiser to marry the love of her life, Paul Sumner. Paul worked as telegrapher for the railroad, which took them to Spokane, Wash., and Albany, Ore. These were very wonderful times for her and Paul.
Paul died in 1973 and Jacqueline moved back to Weiser to be near her father and work at Weiser Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1992.
Jacque loved her friends and family. She loved loud rock and roll music and always had an adventurous side. She enjoyed hunting with her dad in her younger years and was taken for a ride on the back of a Harley on her 88th birthday.
Jacqueline is survived by her sisters-in-law, Norma Dickerson of Weiser and Mary Johnson of Redding, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. There are too many wonderful friends to list, but I know Jacque would want to thank all her fellow medical people that helped her through the last couple months. Also Alan and Kathleen Harris, who have been so wonderful and such great friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Weiser.
